DIY Video Ad, the AdGrinder Way

Using AdGrinder, any size business can create a high-quality video advertisement without breaking the bank. Instead of having to choose between pre-made ads that are used by multiple businesses, AdGrinder let?s you build your unique ad the way you want to. Choose your own images and your own background music, add your own text and provide your own voice-over.

In five steps and in less than three minutes, and without having or needing any technical skill, you can have a video ad, that is ready to bring you customers and spread the word about your business or service. Here is how:

1. Pick your template from our online catalog, choosing the look that works best for your product or service.

2. Upload your photos just like you would to a photo sharing service, picking the images that best convey the message you want to give.

3. Then choose your background music from our expansive library.

4. Finish by adding text to your ad to highlight its special features.

5. When all the pieces are in place, "Grind your Ad."

And the cost? Only $99 per video created. NOT BAD!

Once you video is ready, you will be able to use the Campaign Manager to place your video throughout the Net. You’ll choose your budget, your keywords and the area codes you want your ad to appear in. Adgrinder does the rest.

To track you video's "uptake," you’ll get a report every week showing you where your ad has appeared and how often it was viewed.

Customer comments are welcome - I don't know when I'll be able to test it myself.

Mesmorized by Mesmo.tv?

Who comes up with these weird names???

Like many other video sharing sites, San Francisco’s Mesmo lets you collect and share videos from other video sites. Its specialty, though, is social video recommendation, to help you find new videos you’ll like. It wants to create a community on the site this way, by matching you up with similar channels and users.

They’re aiming to make a video version of Flixster or iLike, which also use recommendation filters to suggest movie and music, respectively. These engines work as follows: If you’ve tended in the past to enjoy content that your friend, Bob also enjoys, these engines will recommend you other new content that Bob is enjoying. These recommendation filters weren’t present in the first wave of popular video sites like YouTube.

To take advantage of this trend, Mesmo is also offering a Facebook application , although it’s not listed yet as one of 113 Facebook “video” applications at this time. They also claim to have around 50,000 registered users now — though it’s unclear how many are active....

Don't forget to add your own videos - you can just by entering your URLs, after registering. Which, coincidentally, didn't work for me on my Mac Safari browser. And there isn't even a "Beta" sign next to the site's logo!

I hate when people don't test for cross-platform compatibility. Negates the whole experience for me. So wrong, Mesmo!

P.S. Turns out the registration went through, but without any visual cue or message from the site you wouldn't know....

VEOH - VE OH? - VidEO H?

I still don't know. They don't tell you. You can, however, do a lot on this website (still in beta):

* Broadcast videos of any file size, length, or resolution.
* Auto-syndicate to YouTube, Google Video, MySpace, and P2P Internet TV .
* Make money through sharing in advertising revenue or pay-per-view.
* Create your own channel with your own uploaded videos and from others.
* Let viewers subscribe to receive new videos as they are released.
* Embed a Flash player on your website. It's like having your own channel.

MT:  They have been in beta at least since late summer, when I first checked them out. How long would anyone want to stay in a testing/fine-tuning mode? Makes me wonder.

Anyway, uploading a 2 minute infomercial, "The College Monkeys' Survival Guide" was quick and painless. Auto-syndication to YouTube etc. was cool. Creating and managing your own channel(s) and subscriptions are also great features, BUT require you to devote a lot of time and effort to produce your own videos. Yes, you can and should add feeds from other sources that complement yours. That's also a very effective way to have your feed syndicated at no cost. At the end, it is still YOUR show. Making it successful will keep you VERY busy.

While the College Monkeys video no longer runs, you can see it here, just for kicks.

Squidoo this Video

Meaning, you build your own personal recommendation or expert page online, complete with a video feed from YouTube. It is REALLY easy:

1. Choose the YouTube module
2. Name and describe your module
3. Select your video
4. Define display options
5. Save

This is the quickest way we've found so far to video-enable a page or blog, although it is specific the Squidoo and only works with YouTube so far. Another issue could be that the audio might get out of sync with the video. Still, the overall effect is pretty impressive, especially as you add other modules, like instant voting and group discussion. I did all of these on our Squidoo Page in no time at all and the result speaks for itself.
